Regular backups protect your payroll data against hardware failure, theft, fire, or any other unexpected loss. This same utility can also restore data if you ever need to recover lost files.
Where to find it: Utilities > Backup Utility
Steps
- Go to Utilities > Backup Utility and select Backup.
- The From Location field will show the default location of your TTPay database — you shouldn’t need to change this.
- In the To Location field, enter where you want the backup saved.
- Click Start Backup.
Best practices
- Include the date in your backup file’s name, so you can easily tell backups apart later.
- Store backups in a different physical location from your main computer — for example, at a different branch or in a bank safety deposit box. This protects you if something happens to the building itself.
- The backup utility doesn’t burn a CD/DVD for you directly, but the backup folder it creates can be copied onto a disk if you want a physical copy.
Good to know
Make backing up part of your regular routine — ideally after every pay run, not just occasionally. It’s the cheapest insurance you have against losing payroll data.
